Summer is here and that means the California tree fruit season is well underway. The leader, the peach, was long supposed to have originated in Persia, but modern research has revealed that it originated in China, where it is regarded as a symbol of immortality. Peaches can be yellow-fleshed or white fleshed. Peaches are grown commercially in more than 30 states, with California being the largest producer. The season for California peaches extends from April through October, with the peak in July and August. Peaches are the 3rd most popular fruit grown in the United States, right behind apples and oranges.
Nutritionally, a medium size peach has about 40 calories, is very low in fat and high in dietary fiber.
The quality and color out of California is very good and the supplies are projected to be adequate to handle the high demand of this sweet tasting fruit. So don’t be shy and book those ads. Your customers will thank you for it.
