Content marketing is a marketing technique of creating and distributing relevant and valuable content to attract, acquire, and engage a clearly defined and understood target audience – with the objective of driving profitable customer action.”

I look at it as how to communicate and engage your customers without selling. Today’s world of online marketing is a race where the stakes are high, competition is tough and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to have a sustainable, competitive advantage. Here are some questions to answer before you decide to jump in, “When Content Marketing is right?” for you: Have to already built your community of followers or the few ‘evalgalist’ who will help spread the word about your offering? Do you have engagement? Are you interacting with clients and potential clients in a meaniful way? Do you have any upcoming events or promotions that could use a strong PR campaign? Can your content be used in news stories (Is it news worthy)? If you can answer yes to most of these then you are ready to take a more integrated approach to your social media or content management efforts.
