So the holiday season is among us. This is a perfect time of year for restaurants to plan some fun seasonal promotions. For example, Halloween is coming, start promoting a best costume award on your social media channels to clients who patronize your establishment in the holiday spirit. There are many ways to go about this. For example, have guest share pictures of each other on Instagram. Have them pin some of the best costume pictures their Facebook page, and Pinterest. Create a Facebook promotion to name a ‘special Halloween dish’ . The person with the best name can be offered anything from merchandise, to loyalty cards, discounts, their name on the dish, etc. Placement of table tents promoting the event, is a great way to create awareness, as is putting it in your newsletter (assuming you have one- right?), and on your website.
The point is, social media is all about being social. Get your customers excited about the season, which gives you a chance to interact with your community without being pitchy. Halloween is a perfect time for this type of PR. Let your customers do the promoting for you. This is obviously much cheaper and cost effective than advertisements, or discounting.
I know Halloween is several weeks away, that is why it is important to plan for these things several weeks in advance. These are the types of opportunities a business needs to take advantage of, in order to increase brand awareness, brand visibility, loyalty, and ultimately, sales.
